First Poster for Street Fighter Revealed; Release Delayed by Seven Months

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, the first poster for the live-action film adaptation of the video game Street Fighter has been released, along with new story details. Paramount hopes the film will launch another successful franchise, similar to Sonic the Hedgehog. The movie will arrive just months after Mortal Kombat II, another adaptation of a popular fighting game.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the film will now open on October 16, 2026, marking a new chapter for Legendary Pictures following its three-year deal with Paramount. Kitao Sakurai has stepped in as director, replacing Danny and Michael Philippou.
Set in 1993, the story follows Ryu (played by Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (played by Noah Centineo) as they compete in the “World Warriors Tournament” against a lineup of skilled fighters. When a deadly conspiracy behind the tournament is revealed, the competitors must set aside their rivalries.
The cast also features 50 Cent as Balrog, David Dastmalchian as the villain M. Bison, comedian Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Orville Peck as Vega, Kalina Liang as Chun-Li, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Eric André as Dan Savage, Olivier Richters as Zangief, and Roman Reigns as Akuma.
The original Street Fighter video game debuted in 1987, but it was Street Fighter II (1991) that catapulted the franchise to worldwide fame, revolutionizing the fighting game genre with its combo moves and special attacks.
Street Fighter is now scheduled to hit theaters on October 16, 2026.
